Craig Jones (at left in photo) arrived at the 12th hole at Harbor Links Golf Course thinking, “Back to basics. Back to basics.” He had just left the 11th hole (his favorite hole) having scored a triple bogey 7. The 12th hole is a 159 yard par 3 with a somewhat elevated green. He pulled a 7 iron from his bag, still thinking “Back to basics.” When he swung, he would later say, “The shot felt really good. The ball was on line with the pin the whole way. It took one bounce and then it disappeared.” After a few seconds of disbelief, he realized the ball was in the hole! The joy of a man who had just made his first hole-in-one was on full display on the tee box. Several days later, that joy had not diminished.  Craig would finish the round with an 83.

Craig’s ace occurred on the second day of the Deryck Panton Tournament one year after Mark Green (at right in photo) scored his ace at the previous years tournament which was held at the Willow Creek Golf course. Mark shot his ace on the 125 yard par 3 16th hole. He finished with an 81.  It was his third ace, and his second in a Moments Golf Club  tournament.
